- The name of this dance comes from the ancient custom with the same name, practiced in southern Romania - Oltenia and Muntenia. Old custom involves a ritual of healing diseases. Today remains a virtuoso dance. The apparent complexity comes from the alternation of several dances including Hora and Sarba, the most popular in this part of the country. Dancer's costumes have a special color and always the dancers must be in an odd number.
Often, in the study of this custom usually people took into account more its exterior form, not the sense, the sense of life in the community, of function. There can not be neglected also the real life habit, the study of a whole social life. Researchers systematically overlooked that calusul is performed by a group of people, which in turn were part of a wider community and expresses a belief that appeared because of some daily necessities.
Any scientific review which aims to establish basic principles that govern the fog, must be applied in a real life community that generated it.
