After the "BareFoot Diva" enchanted the Romanian audiences with her very first concert in our country, the famous Cesaria Evora is returning for the third time and will offer her fans the chance to witness a true musical feast. The concert will be, without a doubt, a special performance of Evoria, named by the critics worldwide the queen of morna, a style derived from fado. Cesaria Evora is known and love throughout the world for the magic of her music, performed in a profoundly personal manner, folk with jazz and latino influences, a music which transcends all cultural, national and racial limits. |
The "BareFoot Diva" became an international star rather late, when she was 47, after releasing in Paris her first album, "La Diva aux pieds nuds". From there on, international music would never be the same. She has been nominated to the Grammy Award three times, finally winning the prestigious award in 2004. The "Rogamar" Tour is promoting the album with the same name.
After her 2003 Romanian performance was a tremendous success, Romania is one of the many countries where Cesaria Evora is loved and eagerly expected each time. She has gained the name of "BareFoot Diva" because se doesn't wear any kind of shoes during her shows, a symbol of solidarity with the poor women and children in her home country.
Her music, a strange and easily recognizable combination, is inspired mainly by the sad history of her country, of the slaves' stories, with their romances, dramas, suffering and joys. Those who will attend this concert will have the unique chance of discovering a warm voice and also the exotic fascination of a misterious and farway land.
The "Rogamar" album has 15 tracks, written by Cesaria Evoria with her band, which will also be on stage.
