The famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York had opened on the 7th of March 2007 a fabulous exhibition, the first survey of this kind ever presented in the US, exploring the impact and development of Modernism in Barcelona in the 20th century. The curators managed to build a comprehensive picture of how Barcelona's architects, designers and especially artists explored this style, starting in 1888 and ending in the first years of the Fascist regime of Franco, in 1939.
More than 300 works have been selected for this exhibition, ranging from paintings and prints to sculpture, drawings, posters, furniture, architectural models and design, thus offering a new vision of Spanish Modernism and how the artists of this city tried to reinvent art in the 20th century.
