The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco will host next year one of the richest exhibition of Asian art ever presented in the United States of America, with an impressive selection of works from the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It was a great time for the vast Chinese empire, the 276 of the Ming rule being a period of stability, economic and military growth and especially a good time for arts, which flourished like never before. As Ming literally means "bright", the art of this period is complicated, rich, with detailled modes and accessories. |
The curators have chosen around 250 works of art, from the vast collection of three important Chinese museum and from the Asian Art Museum's collections, showcasing a complete presentation of genres, techniques, subjects and materials used.
