The Denver Art Museum will host the exhibit "Artisans & Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre" from the world-renowned Parisian Louvre this fall.
The exhibit will be up when the expansion opens on October 7 and run through January 6.
The Louvre exhibit tells stories of Paris' artisans and kings through sculptures, paintings, antiquities and drawings.
The art comes from the reigns of Louis XIV, XV, and XVI. The Royal Collections are the core of the Louvre's holdings and the three monarchs played a pivotal role in the development of French decorative arts.
The exhibit includes mainly works from the decorative arts including Gobelin's 1775 tapestry "The Loves of the Gods" and porcelain from Sevres, also will be paintings and drawings by Rubens, Titian, Velazques and Durer.
The exhibit will be the first of three from the Louvre, the others will be at the Denver Art Museum in 2008 and 2009.
The Denver Art Museum has a collection of more than 60,000 works of art from the world.
