Art & Fashion for Education’ is an event/exhibition which proposes raising the necessary funds to acquire computers for a group of talented young individuals without financial possibilities. The selection process will be helped by an organization involved in educations, “Noi Orizonturi“ Foundation.
The project’s mechanism implicates two aspirational fields for the general public: art and fashion. Following the creation of works by Romanian designers inspired by Romanian and International artists, the works will be sold in a system resembling that of art galleries. The goal of the fundraising is to help talented young individuals and
students so they can follow their dreams and, in time, learn to ‘pay it forward’ someday with similar actions.
For this first edition of ‘Art & Fashion for Education’ 14 designers have been selected: Smaranda Almășan, Andreea Bădală, Lucian Broscățean, Ioana Ciolacu, Andrei Dudău, Răzvan Firea, Olah Gyárfás, Adelina Ivan, Irina Marinescu, Marina Moldovan, Sabina Pop, Lucian Rusu, Carmen Secăreanu, Mihai Dan Zarug.
The artists/designers will create apparels based on inspiration from the work of an artist. Among the artists chosen as inspiration are Anish Kapoor, Maya Lin, Gottfried Helnwein, Antony Gormley, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Tamara Łempicka, Cy Twombly, Mircea Suciu, Joseph Kosuth, Ben Vautier sau Mike Kelley.
The opening of ‘Art & Fashion for Education’ will take place May 14, 2015, between 8-11 PM, at Atelier 030202 (11 Sfânta Vineri st.). The exhibition will be available for viewing until June 12, 2015. The period of the exhibition coincides with three other major events, charged with cultural simmer: Bucharest Film Biennale, Romanian Design
