A lot of teenagers with special abilities are in danger of not attaining a level of performance that corresponds with their intellectual capabilities and talent, or risk leaving the educational system because of uncertain financial situations. The educational system doesn’t help them and their families don’t have the means to support them on their path. These young individuals are at risk to fall victim to an underachieving social and educational system in spite of their creative and intellectual capabilities.
The goal of the exhibition/event is to raise funds for individuals with special abilities, but without financial possibilities. The funds raised will be transformed into computers which will be donated to these teenagers.
The beneficiaries of the program will be selected with the help of ‘Noi Orizonturi’ Foundation.
A series of well-known Romanian fashion designers have been invited to create apparel inspired by works of art. The curators will work directly with the designers to create a unique exhibition, a first in Romania.
Amongst the artists chosen as a source of inspiration are Maya Lin, Gottfried Helnwein, Antony Gormley, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Tamara Łempicka, Cy Twombly, Mircea Suciu, Joseph Kosuth, Ben Vautier or Mike Kelley.
The exhibition will be open also at Timisoara Art Museum (June 23 – July 17, 2015) and Cluj National Art Museum (September 3 – 16, 2015).
The period of the exhibition coincides with Romanian Design Week.
‘Art & Fashion for Education’ is a project initiated and curated by Pavilion Curatorial Office (Razvan Ion, Eugen Radescu and Gergő Horváth) and Bucharest Biennale – Bucharest International Biennial for Contemporary Art.
The team of the project, as well as the artists/designers will work pro bono for this event.
