- Aries Valley is one of the most beautiful areas from Romania, an area that retains the old and rustic air and where the tourists can breath in peace and can relax visiting new and impressive places, in any season.
Here you can see the most high settlements from the Carpathians, scattered villages on hills and valleys, places where the traditions are still kept, but also places where the modern winter sports appeared. Arieseni Vartop slopes are famous at this chapter.
A tourist arrived in this area should not miss some objectives, famous and beautiful, like the Scarisoara ice cave, the natural reservations the Hill with snails and Detunata, the Bride Waterfall in Avram Iancu village, Lupsa Monatery or the Roman mines from Rosia Montana.
Scarisoara is the biggest ice cave in Romania.Situated at 1.165 meters and 3.000 years old, the cave is 720 meters long and the deph is about 105 meters. The block of ice has a volume of 50.000 cubic meters and over 20 meters thickness.
The tourists that arrive here can accommodate even in the village glaciers, the neighbors of Scarisoara cave. For a small amount of cash you cand sleep in an authentic farm house and you can taste the authentic food from this parts.
Another area, a much-publicized settlement, is Rosia Montana, with its famous gold mines. Here there are Roman ruins, 2.000 years old and in the left part of the Aries Valley, 15 kilometers west from Campeni, the visitors can visit the paleontological reservation the Hill with snails which contains an area of four hectares of ancient Superior Cretaceous sediments, formed in a large sea with rocky bottom.
Althrough is located in a mountainous area, you can visit the Aries Valley simpy planning a trip by train or car because the valley territory is crossed in the central part by an important road, DN 75 Turda-Beius which links to DN 1 Bucharest-Oradea. From here the road offers another options to Alba Iulia, Zlatna and Brad.
