For almost two decades, M.J. Albacete has been the director of the Canton Museum of Art, supervising exhibitions, events, loans, deciding on the buyings and sellings of works of art. Over the years Albacete has seen the works of many artists who live in Ohio, having his favourites. To mark the anniversary of his two decade directorate, the museum will host a series of "Director's Choice" exhibits, the first starting on September 6 2007. For this show the curators and Albacete himself have chosen works signed by Julian Stanczak, Anthony Schepis and Christopher Ryan, contemporary artists that are among the director's favourites.
Julian Stanczak in a painter and prinmaker, born in Poland in 1928, one of the seminal members of the Op-Art movement. He lives and works in Seven Hills, Ohio Anthony Schepis graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1955. Christopher Ryan is an artist and Assistant Professor of Art and Director of the Frohring Art Gallery at Hiram College.
